Extra Australians than ever have reported they do not determine with any faith, information from the 2021 census exhibits.
Nearly 40 per cent of the Australian inhabitants reported having "no faith", the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) says.
This marks a rise from 30 per cent in 2016 and 22 per cent in 2011.
Dr David Gruen AO, Australian Statistician, mentioned extra Australians have been glad to reply the voluntary query on faith in comparison with previous years.
"The faith query holds a particular place within the census – it is without doubt one of the few matters that has been in each certainly one of Australia's 18 censuses and is the one query that's voluntary," he mentioned.
"Regardless of being voluntary, we noticed a rise within the proportion of individuals answering the query, from 91 per cent in 2016 to 93 per cent in 2021."
Christianity stays the commonest faith, with 43.9 per cent of the inhabitants figuring out themselves as one.
This marks a decline from greater than 50 per cent in 2016, and greater than 60 per cent in 2011.
It is the primary time lower than half of the nation recognized as Christian.
The biggest Christian denominations are Catholic, at 20 per cent of the inhabitants, and Anglican 9.8 per cent.

Hinduism has grown by 55.3 per cent to 684,002 individuals, or 2.7 per cent of the inhabitants.
Islam has grown to 813,392 individuals, which is 3.2 per cent of the Australian inhabitants.
The ABS conducts a census, counting each individual and family, each 5 years.
