Ratepayers residing in Melbourne's north coughed up virtually $20,000 for an extravagant farewell occasion for an outgoing chief government.
Hume Metropolis Council hosted the occasion for Domenic Isola on April 15, 2021, at Broadmeadows City Corridor to "acknowledge" the chief government's contribution to the group.
The breakdown of the invoice included $15,000 for meals, $3600 for decorations and about $1000 for a floral tribute.
The figures had been revealed in a freedom of knowledge request made by councillor Trevor Dance.
Hume Metropolis Council chief government officer Sheena Frost stated the choice to host the occasion was not made by Isola.
"Mr Isola was not concerned in selections regarding the prices of the occasion because it occurred some months after he had departed," Frost stated in an announcement.
The farewell occasion, held two months after he resigned from the council, was attended by about 300 individuals, together with councillors, MPs and enterprise leaders.
