Former defender Jonny Evans has offered perception into how the dressing room reacted to Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013. Ferguson walked away from administration after a historic 27-year tenure within the Outdated Trafford dugout, inflicting a rupture amongst his squad.

Evans went on to hail Ferguson for the belief he positioned in him from an early age, explaining he had a 'deeper connection' with United's academy graduates than with star signings like Robin van Persie.

"You do not see that a lot now. However the religion he had in us, the assist he gave us and the belief he had in us was unimaginable.
