Gordon Lightfoot died at a Toronto hospital on Monday on the age of 84, his consultant has confirmed.
The Canadian musician rose to prominence within the Nineteen Sixties and Nineteen Seventies with hits together with Early Morning Rain and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The reason for demise has not been confirmed as of the time of writing, however followers have begun taking to social media with tributes to the late music icon.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated in a Twitter publish: “We now have misplaced one in all our biggest singer-songwriters.
“Gordon Lightfoot captured our nation’s spirit in his music – and in doing so, he helped form Canada’s soundscape.
