Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly paid tribute to their former Byker Grove co-star Dale Meeks because it was introduced the actor had died.

They penned: "We're so extremely sorry to listen to the very unhappy information of Dale's passing.
"He was the loveliest of men, though he was a Denton 'Burner', the arch nemesis of the Byker 'Grovers'! A tragic loss at such a younger age. RIP Dale. Sleep effectively bonny lad".

Tributes have poured in for Dale, who most just lately performed Simon Meredith in ITV's Emmerdale.
