An Amtrak prepare collided with a FedEx truck Monday morning, killing the unidentified supply driver.
The prepare, on a New York to New Orleans, Louisiana, route, was touring via Haralson County in Georgia at round 11 a.m. on Nov. 28 when the collision occurred, in line with Amtrak. The truck was already on the tracks, Amtrak mentioned.
Haralson County Sheriff Stacy Williams confirmed to CBS Information that the car had been a FedEx truck, and mentioned that the motive force was killed within the collision.
Not one of the passengers or crew on the prepare have reported accidents, Amtrak mentioned. Native legislation enforcement is investigating the collision.
An Amtrak spokesperson advised CBS Information that "railroad crossing incidents are the second main reason for rail-related deaths," citing knowledge from the Federal Railroad Administration.
"These incidents can have an effect on everybody concerned — those that are injured or die and their households, our prepare crews, and our passengers," the spokesperson mentioned. "Additionally they function vital reminders in regards to the significance of obeying the legislation and of exercising excessive warning round railroad tracks and crossings."
