A Queensland truck driver has been charged over a crash which killed a six-year-old boy in New South Wales almost 20 years in the past.
The 59-year-old has been extradited to Sydney to face courtroom accused of being behind the wheel close to Sutton Forrest within the Southern Highlands in 2004.
Rian Strathdee and his household have been travelling alongside the Hume Freeway in a station wagon after they have been hit by a truck.
Rian, aged 6, died on the scene.
Police will allege the extradited man – then aged 42 – was working as a truck driver on the time of the crash.
He has been charged with harmful driving occasioning loss of life, harmful driving inflicting grievous bodily hurt, and three counts of bodily hurt by misconduct.
Ipswich Magistrates Court docket granted the extradition yesterday and he was flown to Sydney final evening.
He was refused bail and can seem in courtroom at the moment.
