Michelle Branch Domestic Assault Case Dismissed

The "In all places" singer was arrested by Nashville police on August 11.


Practically two weeks after Michelle Department was arrested for home assault, the case has been dismissed on the request of the state on Wednesday (Aug. 24), Billboard can verify.


The “In all places” singer was arrested by Nashville police on August 11 after officers had been referred to as to the home she shares together with her husband, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, to analyze a doable home disturbance. Based on a replica of the arrest report obtained by Billboard, Department was arrested for misdemeanor home assault and launched on $1,000 bond.


The incident occurred after Department claimed the drummer had dedicated adultery in a since-deleted tweet. On August 15, Department filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable variations.


“To say that I'm completely devastated doesn’t even come near describing how I really feel for myself and for my household. The rug has been utterly pulled from beneath me and now I have to work out the best way to transfer ahead,” Department beforehand shared in a press release to Folks upon information of the previous couple’s break up. “With such young children, I ask for privateness and kindness.”


The musicians had been married for 3 years, tying the knot in April 2019 in New Orleans. They share two younger youngsters, a 4-year-old son and 6-month-old daughter. Department can also be mom to 17-year-old daughter from her earlier marriage to bassist Teddy Landau, with whom she separated from in 2014. Carney was beforehand married to Denise Grollmus and Emily Ward, although he doesn’t have youngsters from these marriages.
