Sinkhole swallows parked minivan after water main breaks on US street

A sinkhole has shaped and swallowed up a parked minivan on a US road.

East Bay Municipal Utility District officers informed CNN affiliate KPIX 5 a water primary broke on the 600 block of Oberlin Avenue in Kensington, within the Berkeley Hills close to San Francisco, and a big sinkhole shaped.

The primary break is on a 15cm forged iron primary that was put in in 1946.

Video from the scene confirmed the minivan was nonetheless within the sinkhole on Wednesday evening.

Officers mentioned water service has been disrupted to 10 clients on Oberlin and Stanford Avenues.

Repairs would happen after underground utility strains are marked and particles from the sinkhole are eliminated.

Sections of Oberlin Avenue and Amherst Avenue are closed because of the sinkhole.

In line with the company's alerts and outages map, water is predicted to be restored to the realm Thursday morning.
