An airshow celebrating the seventy fifth anniversary of the US Air Pressure has taken a tragic flip.
Hundreds who turned out for the Subject of Flight in Battle Creek witnessed a fiery crash on Saturday.
A shockwave jet truck that was racing two airplanes at 480km/h, immediately burst into flames.
"It simply broke aside. It simply was like items have been flying in every single place," one witness mentioned.
"After which there was an enormous explosion, fireplace in every single place, and folks began operating. I simply bear in mind sitting there enjoying simply praying, please god, please, god, let him be okay."
Tragically, the shockwave jet truck's driver, 40-year-old Chris Darnell, was killed within the incident.
The Battle Creek police and fireplace departments are becoming a member of the Federal Aviation Administration in investigating what went fallacious.
The Metropolis of Battle Creek halted the remainder of Saturday's airshow performances following the tragedy.
Organisers mentioned the present would resume on Sunday at Battle Creek's govt airport often called Kellogg Subject.
