A 35-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed a major college grounds keeper in Sydney earlier this morning.
A 61-year-old upkeep employee at Punkett Road Public College in Woolloomooloo was stabbed within the arm at about 7am, after making an attempt to forestall a 35-year-old man from wandering the varsity grounds.
There have been no kids on the college on the time.
NSW Police Appearing Superintendent Chris Nicholson stated the incident at this stage seems to be random.
"There was naturally no menace to any youngster or kids on the college," Nicholson stated.
"I feel this was a random coincidence when it comes to the situation on the college."
Nicholson stated the offender is a identified man to NSW Police.
"I don't consider the incident was focused to the varsity itself," he stated.
Police stated a 58-year-old worker of the varsity moved shortly to interrupt the assault and carry out preliminary first support on the grounds keeper's wound.
The offender fled the scene and was arrested and brought to Surry Hills Police Station a short while later for questioning.
The injured man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital with non-life threatening accidents.
Police have recommended the swift actions of the Punkett Road Public College staff.
"The acts of the employees on the college, and the worker who got here to render support to the 61-year-old-man have been nothing wanting courageous and compassionate."
Investigations are ongoing.
