Republican Congressman Tom Reed of New York introduced Tuesday that he'll resign his seat, efficient on the finish of the day, chopping his final time period just a few months brief. Reed introduced his retirement from Congress in March 2021 after being accused of sexual misconduct.

Reed was accused of inappropriately touching a feminine lobbyist in 2017. He acknowledged the incident in an apology in March of 2021 and stated the incident occurred "at a time in my life by which I used to be struggling."
What particular district Reed is forsaking continues to be up within the air, with the congressional map in New York presently being drawn by a "particular grasp" appointed by the state's highest courtroom.
Reed has represented New York's twenty third district since 2010. Republican Claudia Tenney of New York's twenty second district had declared she would run to fill Reed's seat, after Democrats dismantled her district in central New York.
Reed was a member of the bipartisan Drawback Solvers Caucus within the Home and served on the Methods and Means committee.
He's the twenty second Home Republican to both retire, run for one more workplace, resign or die this cycle. By comparability, over 30 Home Democrats have stated they're leaving this cycle.
