Biden to travel Tuesday to Buffalo following mass shooting

President Biden and first woman Jill Biden will journey Tuesday to Buffalo, New York, "to grieve with the neighborhood that misplaced ten lives in a mindless and horrific mass capturing," the White Home stated Sunday. 

Ten individuals had been killed and three injured Saturday in what officers are calling a hate crime and a case of racially motivated violent extremism. Mr. Biden stated Sunday that he has been receiving updates from the White Home, which is working with the Justice Division.

A White Home official stated Sunday that Mr. Biden had spoken to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who's from Buffalo, and he had reached out to town's mayor, Byron Brown.

Brown instructed CBS Information' "Face the Nation" on Sunday that the suspect, who's White, "got here right here right here to take as many Black lives as attainable." Of the 13 victims, 11 had been Black. 

Authorities stated the suspect, who was closely armed and sporting tactical gear, bought out of his car at Buffalo's Tops Pleasant Market and shot 4 individuals within the parking zone, killing three of them. He then allegedly walked inside the shop and encountered a retired Buffalo police officer working as a safety guard, who fired a number of photographs on the suspected gunman. The shooter then killed the guard and walked by the grocery store, capturing others, police stated.
