The Northern Territory coroner has referred the suspected demise of Patrick Moriarty to the Director of Public Prosecutions, saying "he possible died within the context of the continuing feud along with his nearest neighbours".
It took coroner Greg Cavanagh simply a few hours handy down his findings in a case that has intrigued Australia.
Mr Moriarty, referred to as "Paddy", was a larrikin from the tiny outback city of Larrimah, 400 kilometres south of Darwin.
The 70-year-old and his canine Kellie had been final seen leaving the Pink Panther pub on December 16, 2017.
The city is small, with a inhabitants of a few dozen, however two locals who caught the attention of investigators had been his neighbour Fran Hodgetts and her gardener Owen Laurie.
Ms Hodgetts and Mr Moriarty had a long-running dispute.
He informed guests to the city her pies had been so dangerous his canine would not eat them.
She informed police he had poisoned her crops.
Each Ms Hodgetts and Mr Laurie have denied any involvement in Mr Moriarty's disappearance.
In a sensational improvement yesterday, the inquest was performed secret police recordings taken inside Mr Laurie's home.
"I killerated outdated Paddy ... f------ killerated him," it's alleged Mr Laurie may be heard saying.
"I struck him on the f------ head and killerated him.
"Smacked him on the f------ nostrils with a claw hammer."
After the inquest findings had been handed down, Northern Territory Police mentioned it can hold the case into Mr Moriarty's disappearance open.
"This can be a once-in-a-generation case. Paddy and his canine Kellie actually disappeared," an announcement mentioned.
