Ukraine's Paralympic team held their fists up during the opening ceremony in Beijing. Getting there was a "miracle," the team's committee president said.

The Ukrainian Paralympic staff made their triumphant look on the opening ceremony of the Beijing Paralympics on Friday, as Russia continues its lethal invasion of their dwelling nation. Ukrainian Paralympic Committee President Valeriy Sushkevych stated it was a "miracle" they have been even there, in accordance with Reuters.

5-time Paralympic medalist Maksym Yarovyi was Ukraine's flag bearer and he led the remainder of the 20-person delegation into the Beijing Nationwide Stadium to mark the primary the day of the Paralympics. Lots of the staff members – draped of their signature yellow and blue colours – walked out with fists up.

On Thursday, Sushkevych recounted the perilous journey many had taken to make it to the Paralympics, which banned Russian athletes from taking part. The Ukrainian official stated not coming to the Video games would have been "taking the simple choice."

"Our presence on the Paralympics just isn't merely a presence, it is a signal that Ukraine is and can stay a rustic," he stated, Reuters reported. 

Sushkevych stated he needed to sleep on the ground of the bus for 2 days whereas different members of the delegation needed to escape missiles to get out of Ukraine. It took 4 days to get Beijing, he stated. 

"It is a miracle that we're right here... Part of our staff was already overseas. Part of our staff was in Ukraine. All the required gear was in Ukraine... We needed to unite all these elements," Sushkevych stated.

He additionally stated he wasn't certain if they might return to their homeland after the Video games. 

"I do not know... going again dwelling just isn't easy," Sushkevych stated. "I hope the worldwide group takes an actual step in the course of the Paralympics to cease this battle."
