Uber rolls out petrol surcharge across Australia

Uber is feeling the sting of record-high petrol costs and can roll out a short lived gas surcharge on all journeys in Australia.
In a press release, Uber Australia's Head of Driver Operations and Market Emma Foley stated the surcharge can be calculated per-kilometre and would final for 60 days.
Riders can anticipate to pay an additional 0.50c on a median journey, with drivers amassing 100 per cent of the surcharge.

"Whereas earnings on our platform stay elevated in comparison with historic developments, we have heard from driver-partner suggestions that the current sudden spike in petrol costs is having an influence," she stated.
"To assist, we're rolling out a short lived (60 day) gas surcharge on all journeys in Australia."
Petrol costs have skyrocketed to record-breaking quantities over the previous week, with U91 seen as excessive as $2.29 a litre in Victoria.
The petrol value pinch comes as oil costs surge within the wake of Russia's invasion on Ukraine.
Ms Foley stated the surcharge would assist ease the burden of gas value on its drivers.
