CNN journalist Matthew Likelihood spoke to viewers whereas reporting from the entrance line, saying he had held talks with "the commander on the bottom" who had confirmed Russian troops had captured Antonov Airport, on the north-western outskirts of the Ukrainian capital.

"We're right here on the Antonov Airport which is about 25 kilometres - 15 miles or so - out of the centre," Mr Likelihood stated.
"These troops you'll be able to see over right here...they're Russian airborne forces. They've taken this airport.
"They've allowed us to return in and be with them as they defend the perimeter of this air base right here.
"These troops have been landed within the early hours of this morning to take and kind an air bridge to permit for extra troops to return."
Mr Likelihood stated that Russian forces are identifiable as a result of an orange and black band current on their uniforms.

He stated that, in response to Ukrainian officers, Russian's plan "is not simply to encompass" the capital, they worry now it is Russian President Vladimir Putin's plan to fully seize Kyiv.
"To decapitate the management of Ukraine," he stated.
"And change that management with a pro-Russian authorities.
"That is what Ukrainian officers are telling us now."
In a single day, Ukraine misplaced management of the Chernobyl nuclear website, the place Ukranian forces had waged a fierce battle with Russian troops.
Adviser Myhailo Podolyak instructed The Related Press that Ukrainian authorities didn't know the present situation of the amenities at Chernobyl, the location of the world's worst nuclear catastrophe.
"After the completely mindless assault of the Russians on this path, it's unimaginable to say that the Chernobyl nuclear energy plant is secure," he stated.
