The Australian Transport Security Bureau (ATSB) is investigating after a pilot died in a lightweight aircraft crash in Victoria's south-east this morning.
Police consider the crop-dusting Piper PA-25 agricultural plane crashed into rugged terrain in Seaview, close to Grand Ridge Street, about 7.15am.
The pilot, who was the only real occupant of the plane, died on the scene.
ATSB chief commissioner Angus Mitchell mentioned a workforce of transport security investigators with experience in plane operations, upkeep and engineering can be deployed to the accident web site.
"Throughout spraying operations, the plane collided with terrain," he mentioned.
"The pilot was fatally injured and the plane was destroyed.
"Investigators will look at the wreckage and web site surrounds and can retrieve any related elements for additional examination within the ATSB's technical amenities in Canberra."
They will even analyse any recorded information, in addition to interview witnesses and different events concerned.
The ATSB has appealed for anybody who could have seen the plane in any part of its flight, who could have footage or has data of the operation of the plane, to make contact them by way of e mail witness@atsb.gov.au.
The transport security investigator goals to publish a preliminary report detailing fundamental info in roughly 6-8 weeks' time.
A last report can be printed on the finish of the investigation.
Police will put together a report for the coroner.
