A teenage boy has died in Cairns after he was taken to hospital with stab wounds in early hours of New Year's Day.
The boy was one of two 17-year-old boys who were taken to Cairns Hospital with stab wounds.
Police believe the boys were among a number of people involved in a street disturbance on Lychee Close in Manoora, where a police officer was allegedly punched, just before 1am.
It is believed the boys had been at a birthday party at a Lychee Close address before the street disturbance, which police received numerous Triple Zero Calls about.
An 18-year-old Manoora man and a 28-year-old Manoora, were arrested following the altercation and charged with obstructing police.
They are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 18.
A 17-year-old male has also been arrested and charged with seriously assaulting police and obstructing police after he allegedly punched an officer.
The 17-year-old who died was taken to Cairns Hospital in a private vehicle, instead of by ambulance.
Police have ruled that his death is being treated as suspicious.
