Man arrested following alleged hit-run

A 45-year-old Broadmeadows man has been arrested after an alleged hit-and-run collision in the Melbourne suburb of Campbellfield.
Another 45-year-old man was allegedly struck by a vehicle while riding his scooter in Campbellfield at 1pm yesterday.
The scooter rider was crossing the road on his way home from the shops when he was allegedly hit at 50km/h.

Police allege the drive did not check on the scooter rider before driving off.

Police said they were told a man was loitering in the nearby suburb of Coolaroo near a car detectives were looking for about 4.20pm.
"Officers attempted to intercept the driver in Fawkner however the vehicle fled," police said in a statement.
The Victoria Police air wing followed the vehicle to a car park on Sydney Road in Brunswick, where police on the ground arrested him nearby just after 5pm.
Police said the man remained in custody and was assisting them with their enquiries.
