Strong winds and large swell will batter large swathes of the Queensland and northern New South Wales coasts as ex-cyclone Seth creeps closer to land.
A number of Gold Coast beaches from the Tweed to the Seaway will be closed today as the weather system whips up hazardous surf.
The tropical low is currently sitting 450 kilometres east of Brisbane and is expected to hit southern Queensland and northern NSW later this afternoon.
The system will collide with a king tide which is forecast in south-east Queensland corner and together the two will create dangerous surf conditions.
Off Tweed Heads, wave heights of about four and five metres were recorded yesterday and this is expected to get bigger as the day goes on.
A gale force wind warning has also been issued for Fraser Island Coast, Sunshine Coast Waters and Gold Coast Waters.
From tomorrow, a severe to extreme heatwave will start building in central Queensland.
Cairns and Rockhampton will also be impacted by extreme temperatures.

The Harbour City is in for a sunny day with a low of 21C and a high of 29C forecast.
Brisbane
It will be a partly cloudy day in Brisbane with a high of 31C expected. There's a slight chance of a shower.
Winds will tend south-westerly at 15 to 20 km/h, before turning southerly 25 to 35 km/h during the morning.
Melbourne
Melbourne is also in for a cloudy day with temperatures between fluctuating between 16C and 22C.
Canberra
The nation's capital is in for a sunny morning before showers develop in the afternoon.
There's a chance of a thunderstorm during this afternoon and evening, which could possibly be sever according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM).
Light wind will become easterly, 20 to 30 km/h, in the early afternoon.
A low of 16C is forecast, with a high of 30C.
Adelaide
Adelaide is in for a mostly sunny day with temperatures moving between 14C and 27C.
Perth
Perth residents are bracing for a hot, clear and sunny day with a high of 34C forecast.
Winds will tend south-westerly at 25 to 35 km/h, before tending southerly 20 to 30 km/h in the evening.
Darwin
Darwin will also reach a high of 34C with the chance of a shower and thunderstorm.
Winds will tend westerly 15 to 20 km/h before becoming light in the evening.
Hobart
Clouds will cover most of Hobart today with a low of 13C and a high of 20C. There's a slight chance of a shower during the morning.
Winds will tend southerly 15 to 20 km/h before blowing south-easterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning.
Wind will become light in the late evening.
