Toddler found unresponsive in Melbourne park pond dies

A two-year-old girl has died after being found unresponsive in a Melbourne park pond.

The toddler was found in the pond at a park on Maribyrnong Boulevard in Footscray about 8pm on December 28.

She was treated at the scene and the Royal Children's Hospital but died overnight.

She was transferred to the Royal Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

Victoria Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Police investigated the scene of the incident.(Nine)

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
