One person has been taken to hospital with serious burns after a building caught fire in Canberra.
CCTV of the scene showed a large explosion in a building on Rae Street, Belconnen, on Monday.
Paramedics took the patient to hospital in a stable condition and nearby buildings were evacuated.
Firefighters said they were still working to extinguish two small areas of fire in a shop on Monday night but weren't able to enter the building due to instability.
Just after 9pm, emergency services said residents who were earlier told to close their windows and turn off their air conditioning could cool their houses again.
ACT Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire was unknown and the scene would soon be handed over to police.
Nearby roads are expected to stay closed for some time.
