Billie Eilish Set To Pull Double Duty On ‘SNL’ As 1st Time Host & Returning Musical Guest

It’s Billie Eilish’s year! The 19-year-old returns to Studio 8H as a returning guest and first-time host for the Dec. 11 episode.

Live from New York, it’s Saturday night! Season 47 of Saturday Night Liveis well underway, and show runner Lorne Michaels has yet to disappoint with his choice of show hosts and musical guests. This week, Billie Eilish, 19, is pulling double duty as both first-time host and returning musical guest! The highly anticipated episode comes after a brief hiatus since the Nov. 20 show, which was hosted by Simu Liu, 32, and first-time musical guest, Saweetie, 28.

Owen Wilson, 52, opened the season musical guest Kacey Musgraves, 33, on Oct. 2. The Wedding Crashers star also made his hosting debut in season 47, chalking up the long wait to nerves. “I get really nervous with public speaking. I’ve never done any of those commencement addresses or Saturday Night Live just because I get too nervous,” he explained on a hike to friend Kevin Nealon in a YouTube video. Owen slayed it, and even had some help from his brothers Andrew, 57, and Luke, 50, during his opening monologue.

Billie Eilish Set To Host ‘SNL’ For 1st Time

At just 19, Billie is making her first double duty performance! The GRAMMY winner appeared ecstatic over the news when it was announced three weeks ago, taking to Instagram to share the excitement. “AHHHHHH!!! I’M HOSTING AND PERFORMING ON SNL!!! CRAAAAZY I COULD SCREAM! @nbcsnl on december 11th!! see you then!!” she wrote, captioning a photo of the post-it notes that SNL shares to their own digital platforms with the names of the that week’s talent.

Billie is among one of the youngest to ever host and perform in the same week, however, the record remains with Britney Spears, now 40, who pulled double duty at 18-years-old in the year 2000.

Her young age was front and center in a promo featuring returning cast member Kate McKinnon earlier this week! Kate, who has been on hiatus filming Peacock’s Tiger King series where she’s playing Carol Baskin, asked the “Your Power” songstress if she’s been told “the big secret about the world that’s been passed down from generation to generation.” The comedian then whispered something to Billie, who retorted, “That’s horrible.” In another promo, the two chatted about the magic of Christmas in New York City.

Several other artists have pulled double duty in recent years, including Nick Jonas, Halsey, Harry Styles, and Miley Cyrus.

The ‘SNL’ Musical Guest Tonight Is Also Billie Eilish

This isn’t Billie’s first-time performing at Studio 8H! She made her SNL debut at just 17-years-old during the season 45 premiere in 2019. Still rocking her dark hair with neon accents, Billie beyond impressed as she defied gravity as she performed “bad guy.”

Many compared the unforgettable live event to Lionel Richie‘s iconic “Dancing On The Ceiling” — of course, Billie wasn’t actually upside down and the “magic” was thanks to camera angles — but it was cool to watch nonetheless.

In a promo filmed for the upcoming episode, Billie broke down the performance and how her team pulled it off.
